A Monaghan company has been awarded the contract to deliver a feasibility study and preferred option report for Boyle Courthouse.
The purpose of this year-long commission is to identify the most appropriate, viable and sustainable future uses for the former courthouse and related buildings.
As part of the study, the heritage significance, physical condition and location within the town centre will be taken into account.
Following the successful tender, Craftstudio Architecture from Monaghan, will now be required to assess the opportunities and constraints associated with the buildings, develop concept options, identify a preferred option, and, if approved, prepare the necessary preliminary design and documentation to support a Part 8 planning application.
One of the areas under consideration for the building is a theatre and community space.
Late last year, the Boyle Town Team were awarded €50,000 under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme to progress the redevelopment of the 200-year-old courthouse.
It is currently home to a temporary library while ongoing remediation works at King House are continuing.
