The council is seeking engineering services for a major, long planned road project.

Today, the local authority published a tender for engineering services for the Monksland Strategic Road Project, the Bogganfin/Tuam Road Link Road.

It is seeking the services for the delivery of stages one to four of the Monksland Strategic Road Project linking the R362 to the N61 at Monksland.

The estimated value of the tender is €300 000, excluding VAT, and the deadline for submissions is August 4th.

The project has been long planned, with Cllr John Keogh highlighting the delay last year.

He said that the planned link road from Monksland to Bogginfin was a “key component” for development in the area.

“When I was first elected 16 years ago to the council, in the previous plan an indicative link had been set up,” he said. “We are now 21 years past that plan.”
