A County Roscommon business is looking for a new home as a leak and the collapse of a corner ceiling forces it to close its current base.

‘The Book Lady - Ireland's Smallest Bookstore' in Boyle has been based at its current location in the town, just on the corner of Bridge Street and Shop Street, since first opening in September 2012.

In recent days Birmingham native Mary O’Donoghue issued an appeal for somewhere to rent in the town that would be “small and cheap”.

“Apologies to any customers who were looking to come into the Book Lady in the near future. The Book Lady, Boyle has now closed for business due to a leak and the corner ceiling collapsing,” said Mary.

However, the hope is that the closure will be temporary.

Mary opened her business in 2012 and in that time has gained numerous fans and plenty of national attention.

“I was struggling to find work at the time and I really wanted to do something I was passionate about,” she said previously.

“It worked out better than I ever could have thought and most importantly it made my son proud when I became known as The Book Lady around Boyle,” she said.
