A County Roscommon service station was ordered to close its store room following an inspection by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) for breaches of food safety legislation.
On June 4th, Frenchpark Service Station on the Dublin Road, Frenchpark was served with an order to close its rear store room that is used to store foodstuffs.
A report carried out by a HSE officer acting under the FSAI noted that the food store room did not allow for adequate maintenance, cleaning and disinfection “due to the unsuitable wall, floor and roof finishes/surfaces which are not smooth, durable or easily cleanable”.
The report further stated: “The food store room does not permit good food hygiene practices, including protection against contamination and pest control. Gaps are evident in the wall and roof junctions and around the metal door to the external yard area”.
