The hotels were selected out of 1,000 hotels nationally across 32 categories.

The Hodson Bay Hotel and Kilronan Castle Estate and Spa have been named as finalists in numerous categories for the 36th Gold Medal Hotel Awards.

Kilronan Castle Estate and Spa will be looking to back up its success at last year’s awards, where it scooped gold in Ireland’s Four Star Hotel category and bronze in Ireland’s Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant.

The north Roscommon based hotel has received nominations in six categories this year, including the two it was successful in last year, along with Ireland’s Afternoon Tea Hotel, Ireland's Castle and Heritage Wedding Excellence, and Ireland’s Wine Experience. The hotel’s chef, Daniel Willimont, has also been shortlisted for Ireland’s Chef of the Year.

The Hodson Bay Hotel has been shortlisted in the three categories - Ireland’s Four Star Hotel, Ireland’s Four Star Hotel Spa Experience and Ireland’s Wine Experience.

The Hodson Bay Group is also among the finalists in Ireland’s Best Hotel Group.

Both hotels were selected out of 1,000 hotels nationally across 32 categories.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, January 27th next at the Galmont Hotel and Spa, Galway.
