A County Roscommon man is set to celebrate his 90th birthday with a 165km trek.
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, September 25th, Jim Callery, the founder of the National Famine Museum at Strokestown Park and of Westward Garage, will walk the entire 165km of the National Famine Way.
Jim is undertaking the walk for his 90th birthday in remembrance of Strokestown's missing 1,490 famine emigrants.

Starting at the trailhead at Strokestown Park House on Wednesday at 12 noon, the youthful 89 year old plans to arrive in Dublin on Tuesday, October 15th, his 90th birthday. Friends and family will walk sections of the trail with him.
Jim is raising funds for charity for current day immigration and has set an ambitious target of €25,000.
