County Roscommon man to start practice at The Bar of Ireland

Scramogue man Rory Doyle is set to commence practice at The Bar of Ireland at the beginning of the legal year this Michaelmas term on Monday, October 5th.
He will be completing his pupilage (formally known as devilling) under Paul Hutchinson BL who has a substantial practice in land law and commercial landlord and tenant.
Commenting on what lies ahead, Rory said he was “looking forward to the opportunity. Paul was my teacher during my time on the Diploma in Legal Studies at the King’s Inns and taught me land law. Since that moment I have had a keen interest in the subject and I am excited to get started developing my practice in the area and across a wide variety of civil matters.”
He was called to The Bar in 2025 by Chief Justice Donal O’Donnell after four years of study, with his final year coinciding with his previous local elections run. “It was a tough four years. I’ve been working full time as a software engineer for over seven years now and I was studying in the evenings to get through the course material. Thankfully I passed all my exams on the first attempt and made the first date for the call to The Bar with many of my friends. I’m still not sure how I managed to canvass as much as I did in the final year but I had such great support from The King’s Inns and my classmates which really helped me every step of the way. I owe them a serious debt of thanks,” he said.
Mr Doyle, who contested the 2024 local elections in the Boyle LEA, says he fully intends to contest the next local elections. “I’m extremely motivated to do everything in my power to work for and enhance my community and I think given my personal, professional, educational and community background I would have a lot to offer as an elected representative.”
