County Roscommon man wins 'Most Appropriately Dressed' title at National Ploughing Championships

A County Roscommon man has put the county in the style spotlight after being named Most Appropriately Dressed Gentleman at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.
Ronan Kelly from Taughmaconnell in South Roscommon claimed the top gentleman’s fashion prize at the Fashion Show Marquee in Screggan, County Offaly, on Wednesday, winning a €500 voucher sponsored by Shaws.
His win gave Roscommon a notable moment at one of the country’s biggest rural gatherings, where fashion once again proved a major attraction alongside ploughing, livestock, food and entertainment.
Ronan was among the standout winners on Day Two of the Championships, with Catia Bandeiras, originally from Lisbon and now living in Dublin, named Most Appropriately Dressed Lady. She won an overnight spa escape for two sponsored by Voco The Club.
The fashion programme, featuring shows from the Celia Holman Lee Model Agency, drew crowds to the marquee throughout the day and added to the lively atmosphere across the Screggan site.
Visitors were also treated to cookery demonstrations, tug of war, welly throwing, live entertainment and a wide range of displays and activities as the Championships continued.
NPA managing director Anna May McHugh said there had been “a great atmosphere right across the site”, with visitors enjoying everything from ploughing and livestock competitions to food, fashion and entertainment.
