County Roscommon spared Status Orange wind warning as Storm Amy approaches

Strong winds from Storm Amy are forecast to hit Ireland on Friday.

Roscommon is the only county in Connacht that hasn’t been placed under a Status Orange wind warning for Storm Amy on Friday.

While the county is under a Status Yellow rainfall warning for Thursday and a Status Yellow wind warning on Friday, the worst of the winds from the first named storm of the season are expected along the western and north-western seaboard.

Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal will be under a Status Orange wind warning between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday.

County Roscommon and the rest of the country will be under a Status Yellow wind warning between 12 noon and midnight on Friday.

Potential impacts include localised flooding and difficult driving conditions as the unsettled weather looks set to continue over the weekend and into the early days of next weekend.
