County Roscommon tourist attraction free to visit on first Wednesday of every month

Boyle Abbey was the first successful Cistercian Abbey in Connacht, founded in 1161, the monastery became a famous centre of learning for more than 400 years.
Access to many OPW-managed heritage sites is free on the first Wednesday of every month.
Almost 40 attractions feature in the offer including Boyle Abbey.
On the first Wednesday, Boyle Abbey switches to free for individual visitors and families, with tickets allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Other local sites also included in the free Wednesday initiative are Parke’s Castle in County Leitrim and Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, Sligo Abbey.
