County Roscommon water supply identified by EPA as being ‘at risk’

The North East Regional public water supply has been identified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as being ‘at risk’.

The North East Regional was among 45 supplies on the EPA's Remedial Action List (RAL) at the end of 2024 requiring “improvements to safeguard public health”.

The North East Regional supply serves almost 8,000 people.

In its ‘Drinking Water Quality in Public Supplies Report 2024’ published today, the EPA said that at the end of 2024, seven supplies remained on the RAL for over two years.

“While an action programme is currently being defined by Uisce Éireann for these supplies, a completion date has yet to be provided,” it said.
