Creggs to host one of club’s most ambitious fundraisers

Creggs will host one of the most ambitious fundraisers in the club’s history in early October.
The rugby club, located on the Galway/Roscommon border, has always believed that the strength of its community is measured not only in victories on the field, but in the spirit of unity, generosity, and compassion that brings people together.
That spirit will take centre stage on Saturday, October 10th, when the Creggs RFC Quid Games fundraiser takes place in the Mattie McDonagh Centre, Ballygar.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and games begin at 8 p.m. sharp.
This promises to be a night of entertainment, fun and energy. Contestants will battle it out through a series of light-hearted challenges inspired by the hit “Squid Games” format.
The real winners will be the charities, the club and the community the club serves, who will benefit from the funds raised.
The club has several projects that the fundraiser will help to support, including the provision of solar panels to provide sustainable energy to the club, and includes other essential infrastructure improvements.
These new developments will reflect Creggs RFC’s long-term commitment, not only to player development but also to inclusion, accessibility and community participation.
This Quid Games event carries a strong charitable focus. From the funds raised, over €10,000 will be given in prize money to the winning contestant to give to their chosen charity or club.
Speaking about the event, Shane Fleming, Creggs RFC Chairperson, highlighted the work of volunteers and the importance of community support.
“Every person involved, whether they’re organising, competing or simply buying a ticket is helping to make a real difference. Giving back has always been part of what Creggs RFC stands for, and this fundraiser is another way of showing that commitment in action,” he said.
The ‘Quid Games’ format has been gaining popularity across Ireland as a unique way for clubs and charities to raise funds while offering great entertainment. Contestants take part in a series of physical and mental challenges, designed to test their teamwork, balance, focus, and nerve — all in good humour.
Mr Fleming highlighted that the sense of cooperation among club members and the community has been remarkable.
“The response has been fantastic. We’ve had people offering to help in every way possible — from logistics and sponsorships to setting up the venue and selling tickets. It really shows the strength of this community.” Tickets for the night are available through any committee member, the contestants or in O'Rourke’s shop in Creggs, the Cafe at Creggs RFC and other local businesses.
