Three charged in connection with suspected €700,000 drugs haul in County Roscommon

Three men charged in connection with the seizure of approximately €700,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and cannabis herb have been remanded in custody on consent.

The men, aged in the 40s and 30s, and with addresses in Laois and Louth, appeared before Judge James Faughnan this afternoon, Thursday, at a special sitting of Roscommon District Court.

Garda Eoin McFadden from the divisional drugs unit said the men were charged shortly before the court and he gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution. He said that each accused made no reply when charged. A Lithuanian interpreter was present in court to translate for the accused.

Judge James Faughnan was told that the alleged value of the suspected cannabis plants and cannabis herb was €700,000.

The men were remanded in custody to Harristown District Court tomorrow, Friday and there was no bail application.

The three men were arrested on Tuesday, April 9th, following the seizure at a property in Loughglynn.
