Darragh honoured for outstanding triple jump achievements

The grandson of a Boyle couple has been presented with a juvenile All-Star for his outstanding achievements in the triple jump in 2025.

Darragh Fahy from Loughrea AC, grandson of Bernie and Teresa Supple from Garrow, Boyle, received his All Star award at an awards banquet ceremony at the Mullingar Park Hotel on Saturday, April 18th.

He also picked up the Bill Battersby Cup for outstanding achievement in triple jump in 2025 from Athletics Ireland.

The presentation recognised all of Ireland’s juvenile athletes individual successes in 2025.

Darragh, a member of Loughrea AC is coached by Mary Barrett and Gareth Devlin. His speciality is the Triple Jump. He enjoyed a highly successful 2025 season, the highlight of which was winning the senior men’s national triple jump title. 

Also in 2025, he was the indoor and outdoor U-19 and U-20 national gold medallist and set an U-19 national record. He is also a back-to-back All Ireland schools’ champion.

He has had international success, also representing Ireland at the SIAB Schools’ International in Scotland in 2023 and in 2025 winning the U-20 Scottish title. He is also a keen sprinter and long jumper.

Darragh is currently studying for his Leaving Certificate, and intends to pursue a degree in engineering.

His ambition for the coming season is to continue improving his performances, compete consistently at senior level, and build on the progress he has made.
