Daughter of Roscommon woman in the running to become Florida Rose

Rachel Ty who will take part in the final of the Florida Rose competition this weekend.
The daughter of a County Roscommon woman will be vying to become Florida’s entry in this year’s Rose of Tralee this weekend.
Rachel Ty may have spent the bulk of her life in the USA but her heart remains very much in North Roscommon where her mother Ruth Carroll hails from.
Rachel says that Ruth, a native of Fearagh, Kilmore, inspired her to become a Rose. Her Uncle Donal, Auntie Denise and grandmother Teresa Carroll alongside her cousins still live in Kilmore and will be wishing her every success when she takes part in the final selection on May 25th.
Rachel’s interests include reading, music, going to the gym, fishing and farming on her Uncle Donal’s farm when she visits Ireland.
She has ambitions to buy a house by the time she’s 25 years of age, own her own cafe/restaurant with her sister Kate, and to be a child psychologist to help those children that suffered mental health issues during the pandemic.
