Death of University Professor mourned locally
The late Professor John Ditch.
The death took place recently of Professor John Ditch (72), late of Breanamore, Loughglynn, Castlerea; Rugby Road, Belfast, and Wheldrake, York.
Prof Ditch died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on September 8th after a long illness bravely fought.
Dearly loved husband of Marie (formerly of Castlerea), a much loved father, devoted grandfather, a dear brother, brother–in–law, uncle and friend to many.
Prof Ditch had been Professor of Social Policy and Head of Social Policy at the University of York.
He and his family were regular visitors to West Roscommon for many years.
A funeral service will take place in Sunderland on September 30th.
