Department of Agriculture carries out ‘enforcement operation’ on County Roscommon farm

A number of animals were euthanised by Department of Agriculture officials on a County Roscommon on Thursday.
The Roscommon Herald understands that the cattle were destroyed on alleged animal welfare grounds.
Personnel acting for the Department of Agriculture and gardaí attended at the scene on Thursday.
Pictures and a video from the scene have been shared widely on social media, and claim to show animals lying in a yard on the farm before being removed by lorry.
The Department of Agriculture confirmed that it carried out an enforcement operation on Thursday with support and assistance from An Garda Síochána. It also said that it did not comment regarding individual cases.
