End of an era as County Roscommon family steps away from landmark pub

The pub is a Ballaghaderreen landmark.

A landmark business in the county is to cease trading tomorrow under its long-standing owners, a well-respected County Roscommon business family.

The Tully family wished the new owners the very best of luck with the venture.

The iconic The Fiddlers Elbow Bar and Restaurant in Ballaghaderreen, which was owned by the Tully family, made the announcement today on social media.

“This marks the end of an important chapter for our family, and we want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of our loyal customers for your support and friendship over the years,” the message said. “We extend our heartfelt appreciation to every customer who has supported us throughout our journey.”

The family extended its sincere thanks to every member of staff that passed through the doors over the years, especially Jackie and the late Michael Kelly.

“We thank each of you for your hard work, dedication and friendship, especially for the support shown to us over the past nine months,” the family said.

While this transition brought very mixed emotions, the family said it is “forever grateful to our dear dad/husband James for his years of tireless hardwork”.  A well known and respected businessman, Mr Tully passed away in October of last year.

“He never stopped but always told us he enjoyed every minute of it.”

The family wished the new owners the very best of luck with the business, adding that any outstanding gift vouchers would be kindly honoured by them.
