Fallen trees bring down power lines across the county

Storm Dave brought down this tree earlier this afternoon, Saturday, in the Trien area of Castlerea.

Several hundred homes and businesses, mainly in West and North Roscommon, are without power tonight following high winds associated with Storm Dave.

Customers across the Castlerea, Ballaghaderreen, Ballinlough, Loughglynn and Arigna areas are without power.

There are also reports of fallen trees in some areas.

Nationally approximately 18,000 homes, farms and businesses across the country are without power.

ESB Networks says crews are mobilised in impacted areas and responding to power outages where it is safe to do so.

A Status Yellow wind warning is still in effect across the country and will remain in place until 2 a.m. tomorrow.
