One of the country’s most well-known and popular singers and songwriters was spotted in Roscommon Town on Thursday evening.

Dermot Kennedy was happy to mingle with locals over a pint in JJ Harlow’s.

It’s understood he will be a groomsman at a friend’s wedding in Ballymoe today, Friday.

Kennedy, known for his hits Outnumbered and Power Over Me, famously appeared on the 2020 Late Late Toy Show, surprising 14-year-old Michael Maloney when he was performing Kennedy's song Giants.

He won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Song of the Year in 2022 with Better Days. His second album, Sonder — released in 2022 — topped the Irish, Scottish, and UK album charts.

He is the nephew of former RTÉ presenter, Mary Kennedy.
