Farming Rathcroghan scoops two prestigious awards
Farming Rathcroghan took home two prizes at the 2025 Archaeological Achievement Awards.
The Farming Rathcroghan project took home two prizes at the Archaeological Achievement Awards this weekend.
The Tulsk group has been congratulated for winning the ‘Archaeology & Sustainability’ and the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ categories at the ceremony at Queen’s University Belfast on Friday.
The judges praised the “innovative project” for bringing sustainable agriculture and archaeological conservation together in one of Ireland’s most significant landscapes, the royal capital of Connacht.
“By co-creating a results-based payment scheme with local farmers, the project supports the protection of monuments while strengthening biodiversity, improving water quality, and enhancing carbon storage,” they continued. “Its success is already shaping new approaches across Irish heritage landscapes.”
