Fianna Fáil HQ has informed Roscommon Senator Eugene Murphy that he won’t be added to the party's General Election ticket in Roscommon-Galway, it has emerged.
Senator Murphy has spoken out publicly about the need to have a Roscommon candidate to run alongside Ballygar’s Dr Martin Daly, who secured the nomination at a recent selection convention.
The Scramogue senator lost the contest by eight votes.
Speaking to the Herald this week ahead of today’s announcement, he said: “I hope they will add a Roscommon candidate. The party needs to recognise that there are 70,000 people in the county".
However, the party have decided on a one party strategy only.
