The understands that the fire has broken out on a bog in Kilteevan near Roscommon Town.
There has been very little rain in the county this July, leaving land very dry and vulnerable to fires.
While this week will be much cloudier, rainfall amounts across much of County Roscommon over the coming days are expected to remain very low.
