First chapter for new purpose-built childcare centre in Roscommon
First Chapters, a new purpose-built childcare service, is set to open in Roscommon.
A new childcare facility is set to open its doors in Roscommon.
Sherry FitzGerald P. Burke have agreed terms for a brand-new, purpose-built commercial unit at the Oldwood estate in Roscommon Town, that will soon become home to a dedicated childcare service — a development that reflects both growth and forward planning within the town.
“This new venture, First Chapters, led by Una Hanley, promises to bring a fresh, nurturing, and professional childcare offering to local families. As demand for high-quality early years care continues to rise, the arrival of a modern, thoughtfully designed facility could not be more timely,” said auctioneer Padraig Burke.
“The investment in a purpose-built space also signals a strong commitment to creating an environment where children can learn, play, and develop safely and comfortably.
“Roscommon is already home to a number of well-established and highly regarded childcare facilities, many of which have been serving the community successfully for years. Their longevity and strong reputation are a testament to the importance placed on early years care in the county. It is hoped that First Chapters will follow in this tradition and become another valued and lasting addition to the local childcare landscape,” said Mr Burke.
“Childcare is at the heart of any thriving community. It enables parents to balance work and family life while ensuring children receive the care and early education that shapes their formative years. With First Chapters, Una Hanley is stepping forward to meet this need, bringing her vision and passion to life in a setting designed specifically for young learners.”
There is already a sense of anticipation building locally, and prospective parents are encouraged to take the next step. Una is inviting families to follow the First Chapters Facebook page, where updates and insights into the service will be shared. An interest survey is also available, offering parents the opportunity to register early and help shape the service around community needs.
