Ballyhaunis Fire Service visited Gorthaganny NS.

Teachers and students from Gorthaganny National School got the opportunity in person to thank local fire services for their work in tackling fires across local forestry and boglands.

In a social media post, the school said it had an unexpected visit yesterday from Ballyhaunis fire service which it said was doing “trojan work fighting the local forest fires”.

The school explained how the visit went down very well with everybody, not least the children.

“While they were refilling the truck near the school, Pádraig spoke to our children, sounded the siren and offered to give the teachers a shower! Well done to all the firemen and firewomen,” it said.
