A 75-year-old photograph capturing the last time the Sam Maguire came to Ballaghaderreen has resurfaced.
The iconic black and white image shows 1951 All-Ireland winning captain from the town, the late Sean Flanagan, in a packed Square with the trophy.
There are many local faces in the photograph, including the late businessman, Mattie Towey, pictured to the right of the Sam Maguire.
The old photograph now carries even greater resonance after thousands of supporters turned out in the Square on Thursday to celebrate the All-Ireland success of another local man, current Mayo manager Andy Moran, and his team.
Andy brought Sam back to his hometown, ending a 75-year wait.
