Illegally dumped hazardous asbestos waste cleaned up in County Roscommon

Some of the hazardous asbestos waste material dumped in the Lisacul area of West Roscommon.
Roscommon County Council has confirmed that it has cleaned up hazardous asbestos wastes that had been dumped in the Lisacul area of West Roscommon.
The Council’s Environmental Department confirmed that it had completed the clean-ups of the wastes, including fibre cement slates, insulation, and plastic, which had been dumped in scenic areas.
The Council has reminded people that asbestos wastes must be managed by a specialist asbestos contractor, adding that the collection, transport and disposal of asbestos waste should only be undertaken by an authorised waste collection permit holder and that waste should be sent to an appropriately authorised facility for disposal.
This clean-up was funded through the Anti-Dumping Initiative 2025.
