Justice minister visited the county today
The justice minister was in the county today.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan met with a number of groups during a private visit to Strokestown today to discuss a range of issues affecting the county.
He met with a group from Safelink who highlighted the lack of a women’s refuge in County Roscommon. Dr Martin Daly TD and Cllr Sean Moylan were also in attendance.
He also met with representatives from the Bar Association who voiced their concerns about the future of the county’s historic court building in Roscommon Town. The building has been closed by the Courts Service since December 2022 for health and safety reasons. The increasingly dilapidated state of the courthouse has been a source of concern for members of the legal profession.
He also met with members of the gardaí in relation to policing issues.
“It was a short and private visit but it was a welcome opportunity for us to outline the issues affecting Roscommon on a number of fronts,” Dr Daly stated.
