A ladies’ football match in County Roscommon had to be halted temporarily after only two minutes because of a “pitch invader” over the weekend.

Roscommon were playing Sligo in the Connacht LGFA championship at Ardcarne Park, Cootehall — the home of St. Michael’s GAA Club — on Friday evening when the club’s robotic mower, named Larry, made its way on to the pitch shortly after throw-in.

While neither team was accused of having 16 players on the field, the arrival of the mower caused much amusement among those in attendance.

The mower was subsequently ushered from the field and the game, which Roscommon won by six points, continued.
