Ambulance personnel, represented by SIPTU and Unitea, re staging industrial action today, Monday, as part of an ongoing dispute with management over the implementation of recommended pay measures.
A work-to-rule at ambulance stations, including Roscommon, Loughglynn and Boyle, is in effect today, with a 24-hour strike scheduled for tomorrow, followed by two additional days of strike action next week.
The HSE says contingency plans have been put in place to ensure patient safety is prioritised and disruption is kept to a minimum during the action involving the National Ambulance Service.
Patients will be contacted directly if there are any changes to their planned care.
In the meantime, the public is urged to call 999 or 112 in the event of a life-threatening emergency. Priority will be given to the most serious cases, including cardiac and respiratory arrests and major trauma incidents such as road traffic collisions.
