Local hardware store shortlisted for business excellence award

Ganly’s, Athlone has been shortlisted for the Octabuild Builders Merchant Excellence Awards in the Connacht/Donegal/Monaghan/Cavan region.

The awards recognise leading businesses in the builders' merchant sector across the island of Ireland.

Ganly’s is a family-owned retail and builders merchant, serving trade professionals and DIY customers across the region.

The company is a leading supplier building materials, DIY products and home improvement goods, with stores in Athlone, Longford and Mountbellew. 

Highlighted in the nomination was Ganly’s knowledgeable staff who offer strong customer service along with the store’s commitment to quality.

Three other builders’ merchants have been nominated in the same category: Chadwicks, Galway; Chadwicks, Letterkenny; and Joyce’s Hardware and Home, Headford.

Following visits to shortlisted merchants throughout recent weeks, judges Phil Derby and Steve Collinge praised both the quality and depth of this year’s entries.

“The standard of entries this year has been exceptionally high, and it was clear at every stop that merchants are genuinely investing in their businesses – in stores, yards and merchandising, but just as much in people, training, digital capability, sustainability and customer experience," said Phil Derby, speaking on behalf of the judging panel. 

“Reaching this stage is the result of a rigorous judging process, and every shortlisted business should take real pride in what they’ve achieved,” he concluded.

The winners will be announced at the Octabuild Builders Merchant Excellence Awards Gala Dinner in The Round Room at the Mansion House, Dublin, on Thursday, October 1st.
