A very special new member to the Garda family was welcomed at Boyle Garda Station recently.
Honorary Garda Lyra Beirne was presented with her very own Little Blue Hero Garda uniform and honorary Garda certificate at her graduation at Boyle Garda Station.
Everyone was thrilled to see her proudly don the Little Blue Hero kit.
“With her courage, determination and beautiful spirit, Lyra is an inspiration to everyone around her. A huge thank you to all her family and friends who attended her graduation and to the members who assisted organising this very special occasion making this moment so memorable. Congratulations, Honorary Garda Lyra — we are delighted to have you as part of the Garda family,” said a social media post from An Garda Siochana.
The Little Blue Heroes Foundation, established in 2017, is a not-for-profit registered charity voluntarily led by Garda members, retired Garda members and community members.
The mission is to provide practical and financial support to families of children who have serious illnesses while granting the wish of the children supported to become honorary gardaí to empower the child and foster positive engagement with An Garda Síochána.
