Major roundabout completed near South Roscommon school

The newly completed roundabout in Bealnamulla.
A long-awaited roundabout near a large primary school in South Roscommon has been completed.
The roundabout was the central feature of a long-awaited safety scheme near Cloonakilla National School in Bealnamulla, and is the final element of the works to be completed.
The Part 8 project also involved the installation of a pedestrian crossing and footpaths along with major road resurfacing.
The pedestrian crossing has been installed on the R362 (Old Tuam Road) near Cloonakilla school, and the new roundabout has been constructed at the junction where the L2025 (Taughmaconnell Road) meets the R362.
For many years, residents, parents of school-going children and local public representatives had been calling for safety measures in an area, which has been described as dangerous due to high traffic volumes.
