Man (60s) dies in County Roscommon road collision

Gardai are investigating a single vehicle road traffic collision in County Roscommon.

A man in his 60s has died in a fatal road traffic collision in County Roscommon.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at Carrigans Park, Donamon,  this morning, Sunday, May 31st.  The collision, involving a car, is believed to have occurred early this morning.

The male driver and sole occupant of the car (aged in his 60’s) was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His body has been conveyed to the mortuary at Galway University Hospital. A postmortem examination will take place in due course.  The coroner has been notified.  

The road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, with local diversions in place.  

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.  Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area of Carrigans Park,  Donamon, this morning, Sunday, May 31st between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
