Man arrested and Garda injured in county this afternoon

A man was arrested this afternoon in the county and a Garda was injured while responding to the incident.

Athlone Gardaí arrested a man for offences contrary to the Public Order Act at a commercial premises in Athlone, South Roscommon at approximately 4:30pm this afternoon, Wednesday 17th September 2025.

The man, aged in his 30s, has since been charged and is due to appear before Athlone District Court at a later date.

In the course of the incident, a responding member of An Garda Síochána received a number of non-life-threatening injuries.
