Man arrested in relation to local firearms incident

Local gardaí have arrested a man as part of their investigation into the discharge of a firearm at a residence in Dunlo, Ballinasloe on Monday.

The man, aged in his 20s, is being detained at a station in the Garda North Western Region under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.

In the early hours of Monday, Gardaí and emergency services attended the incident, which happened at approximately 3:15am.

A male aged in his 20s was conveyed to University Hospital Galway to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
