A man charged with two counts of driving off without paying for fuel is due before the courts again in April, pending disclosure of CCTV footage.
Victor Godfrey (24), with addresses at Marrowbone Lane, Dublin, and Slievebloom Park, Walkinstown, D12, appeared before Judge Bernadette Owens at Athlone District Court.
He faces four charges, including two for alleged theft of fuel and two for failing to appear in court.
The first of those theft charges relates to January 10th, 2025, at Inver Service Centre, Dublin Road, Rochfortbridge, when he allegedly drove off without paying for €40.93 worth of diesel.
Two weeks later, on January 24th, 2025, at Kennedy’s Fuel Station, Monksland, Athlone, County Roscommon, he is alleged to have driven off without paying for €34.39 worth of petrol.
The remaining two charges relate to failing to appear in court on July 23rd, 2025, and February 6th, 2026, having entered into bail bonds with the condition that he appear.
Directions were not yet available for the court and Mr Godfrey’s defence team requested disclosure, including CCTV footage.
The accused was remanded on continuing bail to April 8th, 2026.
