Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Oranmore.

A motorcyclist in his 20s died in a road traffic collision earlier today, Friday, in County Galway.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision in Oranmore.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision involving a car and motorcycle on the N67 at Tonroe, Oranmore, shortly after 4 p.m..

The motorcyclist, a male in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. His body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will take place. The coroner has been notified.

There were no other injuries reported. The scene has been examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road has since reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
