Motorcyclist dies in County Mayo road collision

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision in County Mayo, on Tuesday.
A motorcyclist in his 40s has died in a single vehicle road traffic collision in County Mayo.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision, involving a motorcycle, on the R331 at Friarsquarter East, Ballinrobe, County Mayo, on Tuesday.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision, involving the motorcycle, that occurred shortly after 7.40 p.m.. The motorcyclist, a male aged in his 40’s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was conveyed to Mayo University Hospital. The coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The road was preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17th are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
