Motorists left frustrated by long tailbacks on busy County Roscommon road

Traffic backed up coming into Athlone from Bealnamulla in South Roscommon on Thursday morning
Motorists in the Bealnamulla/Monksland areas of South Roscommon have been left frustrated by long tailbacks on a busy County Roscommon road on Thursday morning.
There were tailbacks of between two and three kilometres coming into Athlone on the Tuam Road from the Bealnamulla side as a result of roadworks at a housing development in the area.
The installation of traffic signals on the R362 at the KDM new housing development commenced on Tuesday, September 9th.
Temporary traffic management measures have been put in place for the duration of the works, which are scheduled to last eight weeks.
Separate electrical gridworks on the same R362 road in Monksland, only a kilometre from the current roadworks, only finished up at the beginning of September, having commenced in May.
