New activator pole certification card launched for County Roscommon

Activator poles are uniquely designed to enhance balance, stability, and core strength. Various classes are held around the county.

Roscommon Sports Partnership, in collaboration with Roscommon County Library and the Healthy Ireland at Your Library initiative, has announced a new venture aimed at promoting health and active living through the introduction of a certification card for the use of activator poles.

This wallet sized card, awarded to participants who successfully complete the activator poles programme, will enable cardholders to borrow activator poles from their local library branch, empowering them to enjoy the many health benefits of these fitness tools independently.

Activator poles are designed to enhance balance, stability, and core strength, making them ideal for individuals of all ages, including those managing chronic conditions or recovering from injury. Used extensively in rehabilitation and active age programmes, activator poles are known to improve posture, reduce joint impact, and increase mobility.

As part of this new initiative, individuals who complete Roscommon Sports Partnership’s activator poles programme will receive an official certification card. This card enables participants to borrow poles at their convenience from Roscommon's library branches, ensuring they can continue benefiting from the programme on their own time and at their own pace. The poles are available exclusively to those who present the certification card, ensuring responsible use and safety for all.

If you have previously completed an activator poles programme in 2024 with Roscommon Sports Partnership, you’re eligible to receive a certification card. Contact Roscommon Sports Partnership at info@rosactive.org or by calling 090 6630853 to arrange issue of your card.

“We are excited to make activator poles more accessible across Roscommon. This collaboration with Roscommon County Library and Healthy Ireland at Your Library, means that more people will be empowered to stay active and improve their health through this practical, community-based initiative,” said Elaine Igoe, Programme Manager for Roscommon Sports Partnership.
