Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) is set to open a new training salon in Roscommon for hairdressing apprentices and industry professionals.

Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) is set to officially open a new training salon in Roscommon for hairdressing apprentices and industry professionals.

The training salon, which will be officially opened today, Tuesday, January 21st, is already in use for the first-ever apprenticeship delivery in the county by GRETB.

Boasting industry standard equipment and facilities, GRETB will run both the hairdressing apprenticeship as well as a range of part-time and community based hairdressing and barbering courses from the facility based at the GRETB FET Centre, Lanesboro Street, Roscommon Town.

Announcing the launch of the training salon, GRETB’s Director of Further Education and Training, Sinéad Morgan, highlighted the significance of bringing apprenticeship opportunities to Roscommon. “This is an opportunity to celebrate Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board’s commitment to education and training provision in Roscommon. We can now extend our support of industry and the provision of training to the hairdressing and barbering sector, but we are also celebrating the opening of our first apprenticeship workshop in the county. Those wishing to pursue a career in the sector and employers wishing to support their employees to upskill can now access this training locally.”
