The Bishop of Elphin has assigned a new priest to the Castlerea Deanery.
Bishop Kevin Doran has assigned Fr. Mario Zalki to minister in the Castlerea Deanery under the direction of Fr. John McManus.
While most of Fr. Mario's duties will be in the parish of Castlerea, he will, from time to time, assist in other parishes in the deanery.
Fr. Mario told parishioners at Masses in Castlerea this morning, Sunday, that he was from India and had been in Ireland for the past three months.
He said that he was looking forward to serving in the parish and deanery of Castlerea. He thanked the people for their welcome and asked for their prayers as he embarked on his priestly duties in the parish.
He explained that for now he will be residing at the parochial house in Loughglynn with Fr. Yashin Jos, who is also from India.
