There will be a new public drinking water fountain installed in Roscommon as part of a nationwide initiative by the National Federation of Group Water Schemes (NFGWS).
To date in 2026, a significant number of schemes across the country have applied for grant aid to install drinking fountains, with a target of 84 by the end of 2026.
The schemes that have so far applied under the Public Drinking Water Fountain Scheme cover 19 counties, including Roscommon.
This initiative is being seen as an important contribution towards the Government's commitment to improve public access to free drinking water and encourage the use of reusable water bottles.
The Minister of State at the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment Alan Dillon has welcomed the planned installations.
