No reduction to SNAs for coming school year - Scahill
Minister for Education Hildegarde Naughton and Minister of State for Special Education Michael Moynihan have confirmed there will be no reductions to special needs assistants for the 2026/27 school year, Senator Gareth Scahill has said.
Schools that were allocated additional supports will receive them in full, providing much-needed certainty for students, families and staff, the local Fine Gael politician said.
"Work will now progress on the SNA redeployment scheme, workforce development plan and updates to the 2014 circular — with a clear focus on strengthening a child-centred approach," he added."This is a clear example of Government listening to parents, SNAs and teachers, and responding to the certainty they and the children and students they support need."
Protests have been planned for tomorrow in Roscommon Town and Castlerea in support of SNAs.
