NYC Rose has strong Rossie connections

The New York Rose has very strong County Roscommon connections.
Ciara McGinty, who is a teacher, was named the NYC Rose in June.
As well as having strong County Kildare links through her mother Elaine, who is from Leixlip, the 25 year old's late grandmother Patsy, sister of John Rogers and Peg Dobey, hailed from Emlagh, Castleplunkett. The Kilmurry Hall Committee, which highlighted the connection, wished Ciara the best of luck in the event.
Ciara's father Rob is from New York, with both of his parents being from Ireland.
Ciara said that she with her sister Ava and brother Rory, were fortunate to travel to Ireland every summer for 6 weeks, which allowed them to build strong relationships with their extended family and friends.
Ciara loves spending time with her family and friends, and travelling.
“In 2022, I travelled around Europe with my cousin, Shannon, and some friends," she said. "Recently, I travelled to the Dominican Republic with my boyfriend, Shane. It’s been a privilege to be selected as the 2026 New York Rose of Tralee, and I am so excited for all that is to come.”
The Rose of Tralee returns to the Kingdom from August 14th–August 18th. Roses representing Ireland and abroad will take to the stage at the Kerry Sports Academy at the MTU on August 17th and 18th.
