‘One of life’s gentlemen’: tributes paid to Roscommon man who died in road traffic collision

Tributes have been paid to Strokestown native John Ross who died after a road traffic collision in Longford town on Tuesday.
The fatal accident occurred at Earl Street in Longford, involving a car and a pedestrian.
Mr Ross, who was in his 80s, was airlifted to Beaumont for treatment of serious injuries but was pronounced dead later on Tuesday evening.
Many tributes have poured since his tragic passing. One sympathisher described him as “one of life’s gentlemen”.
Mr Ross, Grange, Strokestown, is sadly missed by his partner Agnes, his sister Mary Francis (Quinn), extended families, neighbours and many friends.
John is predeceased by his parents Bernard and Elizabeth (Leitrim Cross), and by his brother Barney.
Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72), on Sunday, May 3rd, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m..
Removal on Monday, May 4th, to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, to arrive for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m..
Burial afterwards in Strokestown Cemetery.
