An orange weather warning for wind has been issued for County Roscommon.

This morning, Saturday, the national forecaster issued a severe weather warning for wind for Roscommon.

The warning comes into effect on Sunday, January 21st at 5 p.m. and is valid until 2 a.m. on Monday morning, January 22nd.

Met Eireann says to expect very strong southwest winds with severe and damaging gusts.

Motorists are being advised to expect some very difficult travelling conditions with fallen trees and damage to power lines.

Areas likely to be affected include Roscommon, Mayo, Galway, Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Cavan, Monaghan.

The warning has been issued ahead of Storm Isha with a yellow wind warning kicking in for the entire country at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning
