Jessie Buckley, whose great grandfather came from Williamstown, has been nominated for a Best Actress Oscar.
One of the nominees for this year’s Oscars has strong local connections.
Kerry native, Jessie Buckley, who already has a Golden Globe to her name, was nominated for an Academy Award on Thursday (today) for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Hamnet.
Jessie’s great grandfather was Dr. Jack Comer from the Organic Mill Farm in Pollaneyster, Williamstown.
Dr. Comer’s parents were Simon Comer and Mary Waldron. Their daughter, Mrs Mary Patterson of Ballybane, Ballinlough, taught in Williamstown NS for many years.
