People of Cloonfad thanked for their patience following repair of burst water main
Uisce Éireann crews have repaired a burst water main in Cloonfad.
The people of Cloonfad have been thanked for their patience following the repair of a water main that burst on Thursday morning.
Uisce Éireann confirmed that the water supply is returning to customers in the West Roscommon village, which should guarantee normal service over the coming hours.
The burst disrupted supply for homes and businesses in parts of Cloonfad earlier, and crews are continuing to monitor the network as water pressure recovers.
“We know how frustrating it has been for customers to experience a number of water supply disruptions in recent weeks, and we sincerely regret the impact these outages have had on homes, businesses and the wider community,” said Ger Greally of Uisce Éireann.
“We want to assure customers that we are doing everything we can to minimise further disruption, both through our response to incidents as they arise and through the ongoing water mains replacement works currently underway in the area.
“We would like to thank the people of Cloonfad for their continued patience and understanding while our crews carried out these repairs. The burst has now been repaired and water supply is returning to customers as the network continues to refill.
“While many customers will see supplies return quickly, it can take a number of hours for water pressure to fully recover across the network, particularly for those on higher ground or at the end of the network,” he remarked.
Earlier, local Fianna Fail councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice said that people on Cloonfad were facing a "desperate situation" and “real hardship” after the latest disruption to the water supply in their village.
